W03 – Novel approaches in transpecies whole-brain network analysis (10:00-13:00)

This symposium will present novel methods used to elucidate mechanisms in clinical imaging, and means to enhance those with forward and back translations in animals. The symposium will gather established and rising stars in clinical and preclinical neuroimaging with the objective to inform the wider neuroscience community in the developments allowing for the better interpretation of functional connectivity markers used to study the healthy and diseased brain.

W02 – Multiscale optical technologies for deep and large-volume brain imaging (10:00-13:00)

Optical technologies have become an essential tool in neuroscience to record the structure and function of neural circuits in-vivo and the past years have seen a remarkable rate of innovation and development which has continually raised their performance. However, optical approaches also face omnipresent trade-offs between field of view, acquisition speed, imaging depth, and tissue irradiation, which can be difficult to comprehend from the user perspective. In this workshop, we aim to showcase and discuss the latest strategies that enable neural recordings across scales, from synapses and dendrites to brain-wide circuits, from sub-second dynamics to developmental timescales.

W01 – Voltage imaging and beyond, next-generation molecular and optical tools for high-speed brain imaging (10:00-13:00)

Voltage imaging is starting to enable optical recording of subthreshold and spiking activity from ensembles of cells in behaving animals, a technology that holds promise to transform research in cellular and systems neuroscience. The goal of this workshop is to bring together world leaders in protein engineering, microscope development and early adopters of the technology. This workshop will introduce the current state-of-the-art in the field.
